🌍 A Responsible Sector Taking Action 🌱

At IMACE – the European Margarine Association – responsibility and transparency aren’t just words. In a landmark move for our industry, we have launched a sector-wide double materiality assessment, developed together with sustainability experts from SUSTINERA, to support our members in aligning with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

This collaborative effort helps our members:

 🔍 Identify sector-specific environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities

 📊 Ensure consistency in reporting based on shared material topics

 🤝 Align with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS)

Through workshops, expert groups, company interviews, and stakeholder consultations, we’ve created a solid, pre-competitive framework that helps every company – small or large, B2B or B2C – navigate the complexities of CSRD compliance more efficiently.

Key material topics such as climate change mitigation, biodiversity loss, and workforce health & safety emerged as top priorities, reflecting both internal and external stakeholder expectations.

This initiative is a testament to our sector’s commitment to doing business responsibly and transparently.
