🌍 Against a backdrop of rapid geopolitical shifts, evolving EU policy priorities, and increasing challenges to evidence-based communication, this year’s Assembly focused on a timely theme: “Geopolitics, Policy and Ideologies: Navigating the Road Ahead.”

🎤 We had the privilege of hearing from outstanding external speakers who shared valuable perspectives on:

- Interesterification and other debated topics related to fats, by Sarah Berry from King's College London
- The future of modern margarines and spreads as health and sustainability - supporting foods, by Fien De Witte en Filip Van Bockstaele from UGent
- “Ultra-processed foods”: A Scientific Saga, by David Mela
‍
- The impact of digital narratives and disinformation on trust in science and democracy, by Trisha Meyer from VUB
- The importance of communicating food and nutrition with clarity and credibility, by Kenia Fita from EUFIC
- Global agricultural and oil crop market dynamics, by Vito Martielli from Rabobank
- The Evolving EU policy landscape shaping food systems and healthy diets, by Claire Bury from the European Commission DG SANTE

‍

🙏 A sincere thank you to all our speakers for their expertise, openness, and thought-provoking contributions. Their insights will help guide our sector in an increasingly complex environment. We would also like to warmly thank all IMACE members and partners for their active participation, engagement, and continued commitment to our association. The richness of the discussions once again demonstrated the strength of collaboration across our network.

🎯 Key takeaway? That in a world marked by geopolitical uncertainty, economic pressures, and rapidly shifting narratives, it is clear that no single actor can navigate these challenges alone. More than ever, we must join forces, within IMACE and beyond, to uphold science-based dialogue, strengthen our collective voice, and ensure our sector continues to contribute to Europe’s competitiveness, sustainability, and public health ambitions.

👉 Together, we are better equipped to navigate the road ahead.
