Release of Shadow PEFCR guidance for margarine products

IMACE is proud to announce the release of the 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫-𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭 (𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐄𝐅𝐂𝐑) 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬, initiated by IMACE together with its member company experts and leading sustainability consultancy Mérieux NutriSciences | Blonk.

The guidance provides 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 (𝐋𝐂𝐀) 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, enabling consistent and comparable evaluation of environmental impacts across margarine products. By covering the full life cycle, from raw material sourcing to end-of-life, it helps identify key hotspots and supports informed decision-making to reduce environmental impact.Co-developed through an extensive technical process involving IMACE Company Members and external LCA experts, this work demonstrates how industry collaboration can drive meaningful progress towards 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬.This publication also marks an important step towards future alignment with the European Commission’s Product Environmental Footprint framework and reinforces the sector’s readiness to contribute to the evolving policy landscape.
