IMACE welcomes President von der Leyen's State of the Union Address and its clear focus on Europe's competitiveness.

For IMACE, the margarine and spreads sector, three commitments matter most:

• completing the Single Market by end-2027,

• a pact against gold-plating, which we hope will also cover food, labelling and packaging rules

• simpler, better and better enforced legislation.

We share the concern for food security and for Europe's farmers but food security does not end at the farm gate. It also needs a competitive food processing sector.
