In 2009, the most important European producing countries are Germany with 405 300 t, Poland with 344 200t, the United Kingdom with 340 000 t, Belgium (+Luxembourg) with 255 000 t, and the Netherlands with 251 000 t.
In EU-27, the pro capita consumption of margarine is estimated around 5kg per year.
